Rochester Bridge Trust – Bridge building competition
With the backing of and very generous grant from The Rochester Bridge Trust pupils at the secondary and primary have had lots of fun learning about the three main types of bridges and how they are constructed. Pupils delved into the many different careers involved in constructing major structures such as the Medway beam bridge, Rochester truss bridge and the Queen Elizabeth II suspension bridge. Pupils learnt about careers such as surveyors, bridge designers, engineers, ground workers, concrete pourers and safety inspectors.
Pupils then put their bridge building skills to the test by using the kits, brought using the grant funding, to build a bridge of their choice. The winner of the JBL headphones was Liam with his very impressive suspension bridge.
