Careers Fair 2025 – A Fantastic Success

On Tuesday 4th February 2025, The Rowans hosted its annual Careers Fair, and the event proved to be a tremendous success. The hall was full of energy, with a real buzz of excitement as pupils enthusiastically moved between stands, speaking to employers, colleges, universities and training providers.

Students interacted confidently with the visitors, asked thoughtful and interesting questions, and gathered valuable information to help shape their future pathways. Many commented on how inspiring it was to discover new opportunities they hadn’t previously considered.

The Careers Fair 2025 left a lasting impression on pupils, staff and providers. The level of engagement was exceptional, with students showing genuine interest and curiosity about their futures.

The event not only broadened horizons but also sparked ambition providing many of our young people with the inspiration and information they need to make confident, informed choices moving forward.

Alltask

Alltask shared insights into their work in scaffolding, thermal insulation, asbestos management and environmental projects. Students learned about the range of sites Alltask work on—from cathedrals to stadiums—and the strong apprenticeship routes they offer.

Civil Service

Marie from the Civil Service spoke to students about her role as a schools’ adviser and gave valuable guidance on careers, apprenticeships and options available to both mainstream and SEND learners.

IPS International

IPS International explained their range of apprenticeships in Health & Social Care, Construction, Administration, Media, Engineering, Motor Vehicle and more. Students appreciated the chance to learn how local employers work closely with IPS to recruit new talent.

Nacro

Nacro discussed the vocational pathways they offer, including construction, childcare, hairdressing and GCSE retakes. Many pupils were interested in their supportive, practical approach to learning.

Kent Police

Kent Police shared the wide variety of roles within the force, from frontline policing to specialist roles in IT, finance, HR, forensics and call handling. Students enjoyed learning about the different pathways into policing and volunteer opportunities.

NHS Foundation Trust

Representatives from the NHS explained the 350+ careers available, with many pupils surprised by the range of apprenticeships that exist beyond clinical roles. Their “earn while you learn” approach generated lots of questions.

MidKent College

MidKent College outlined the wide choice of post-16 options, from engineering and childcare to art, IT, health & social care, A Levels and trade routes. Pupils gained useful information to help them consider college courses.

UCA – University for the Creative Arts

UCA engaged with students interested in creative fields, explaining their courses in fine art, animation, product design, media, fashion, computer arts and business.

Skanska UK

Skanska UK provided an exciting look into large-scale civil engineering projects and explained their Intermediate, Advanced and Degree apprenticeships. Students were keen to hear about careers in welding, piling, engineering and IT support.

University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich showcased their wide selection of degree courses, capturing the interest of students considering university as a future step.

National Grid

National Grid talked about how they keep electricity networks running for 8 million homes and businesses. Pupils showed strong interest in their apprenticeships in cyber security, IT, telecoms and technical craft roles.

Swale Skills Centre

Swale Skills Centre informed students about their vocational courses in engineering, catering, hair & beauty and Functional Skills. Many pupils appreciated hearing about how the centre supports progression into employment.

Sports Connect

Sports Connect explained their fully inclusive post-16 sports education programme, attracting interest from students passionate about sport and physical activity.

Supajam

Supajam engaged music enthusiasts with details of their Level 1–3 industry-based music courses, including performance, production, event management and creative entrepreneurship.

The Electrical Academy

Representatives from The Electrical Academy spoke about their apprenticeships for future electricians and the City & Guilds qualifications students can achieve while gaining hands-on experience.

Wildwood Media

Wildwood Media shared behind-the-scenes insights into video production. Students enjoyed hearing top tips on working in the media industry from an experienced professional.

Rivermead 6th Form

Rivermead 6th Form provided information about their post-16 provision for students with an EHCP, focusing on key skills such as English, Maths, independent living, employability and more.
